Smarty Alert: Send Us Your Recommendations!

By Rachel H

We have had a terrific blog request to come up with a list of family and child therapy resources including counselor's names, contact information and specialties. Many children suffer from anxiety and other issues. For some it's just part of their biology... for others it is a result of life events. Either way, people don't really like to talk about it so it is difficult to get good referrals and information. On Triad Smarty Pants, we always try to post businesses and services that we personally recommend so that our readers know the service is mom-approved.

We are putting out a call for anonymous recommendations of local therapists. Please send us your referral along with their area of expertise and a quick sentence about your child’s experience with that counselor. (We will not list your name or email.) You can email us your referrals.

Please forward this link along to any moms you know who may have a great referral for us. We will work on this list over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for the finished product. It will then be archived in our categories under Health, Directories, and Resources. Thanks so much and thanks to Carolyn F for your great suggestion!

What a great idea to ask for referrals....I don't have one but will definitely utilize this list for future reference.

I am looking for a book on how to NOT repeat the pattern of family dysfunction with your own children and know what kind of 'signs' to look for. My hubby had to deal with a lot of issues growing up that were from his own family(emotional incest, secret keeping, conditional love/alienation, eating disorders,shame/guilt)...it's really sad. He is a wonderful person despite all of the above and I know he would not want to repeat any of the above with our own children. I'd love a recommendation for some books that address these issues if anyone knows of any!!!
