Smarty Scoop on Weekend Events

Happy Wednesday! With the holidays just about here, we are excited to share another high-spirited event! Our friends at Paper Sassy will be hosting Pink Friday – a brighter alternative to Black Friday – at its Kernersville store on Friday, November 27. Mark your calendars now, because once again, you can expect to see some AMAZING sales that will no doubt kick-start your holiday shopping!

Check out these deals from our Smarty Sponsor: All monogrammed items in the store will be 50% off. Buy one Clip and Doodle and get matching note cards for 50% off. Buy one set of note cards and get matching address labels for 10% off. Take 10% off all Stephen Joseph Children collection. Take 10% off ALL baby gifts. Triad Restaurant Week
Is still running, and is an opportunity for you to try out a new restaurant or visit an old favorite at an affordable, reasonable price, while also supporting the region’s local restaurants. Participating restaurants will offer special three-course dinners as a way to encourage dining out. The restaurants will offer complete meals at either $20 or $30, depending on the menu selection. They will offer this fixed price menu that includes three courses: an appetizer, an entrée and dessert. (Tax and gratuity are not included.)

Triad Restaurant Week unveiled its list of participating local restaurants last week. Check the official website www.triadrestaurantweek.com. It runs from November 13-22nd. Get your sitters lined up and enjoy an evening out!

Cloth Diaper Swap/Sale
November 19 at 6:45 – 7:45 PM (sellers need to arrive 15 minutes early)

If you're new to cloth, it'll be a great opportunity for you to touch/feel many different kinds of diapers. Trying out used diapers before buying your stash is definitely the most cost-effective way to switch. And If you're a CD Veteran you'll REALLY enjoy this chance to stock up at a lower cost or just get rid of what you're not using anymore. Her goal is to help out the community and the environment and show that there is a good support group for CD users. Items likely to be for sale: diapers (prefolds, pockets, etc), cloth wipes, liners, boosters, trainers, wraps, covers, woolies, snappis, diaper pail, liners, etc. Most items will be gently used, though some will be new.

Celebration of Seagrove Potters
Saturday, November 21 from 9 am to 6 pm; Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm.

The 2nd Annual Celebration of Seagrove Potters is just one week away, but it's not too late to purchase Gala Tickets for Friday night's opening activities. Held indoors at the historic Luck's Bean Plant in Seagrove, the Gala is a chance for visitors to meet the artists and enjoy the opening night festivities of this fabulous event where guests have first privilege to browse and purchase from the thousands of pottery pieces, sip a favorite beverage and enjoy abundant hors d'oeuvres while listening to the jazz band. Tickets this day are $5 and children 12 and under are free. A second fundraising auction of Seagrove pots will be held at 4 PM Saturday. Food and beverage vendors will be set up including 3-Kings Barbeque, Blue Diner Grille, and Pacific Rim Noodle House among others. Indoor seating is available. A special Kids area (only kids allowed in to buy authentic Seagrove pottery at kids prices!) will raise funds to be donated to the local county schools' art departments, demonstrations and educational opportunities will be available, and much more.

Happy 5th Birthday, Children's Museum of Winston-Salem!

Come celebrate at this party, and arrive between 9 am and 10 am for free doughnuts and free admission! Lots of activities, Clifford coloring contest and storytimes. After 10 a.m., admission price resumes to $7.

Santa at Friendly Shopping Center

Visit Santa Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. (he takes breaks between 1-2 and 5-6), and Sunday from noon-6 p.m.(he takes a break between 3-4 pm). Photo package prices vary.

TriadMommies 2nd Annual Holiday Bazaar & Santa’s Workshop
Saturday, November 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Over 40 local vendors for all your Christmas gifts. Kids have area to make holiday crafts in Santa’s Workshop ($3), meet Saint Nick and get a 5x7 photo ($8). Items include children’s toys, handmade children’s clothing, jewelry, gourmet food items, home décor items, cosmetics, all natural products, and much more. Free.

National Adoption Day
Saturday, November 21 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Greensboro Children's Museum, 220 N. Church St., GSO
The Greensboro Children's Museum will kick-off its celebration of National Adoption Day by letting children officially adopt one of their favorite toys to take home along with an adoption certificate. Includes storytime about different types of families and unique family trees. Information will be available for prospective adoptive parents and foster care information. This day will honor both adoptive and foster families in the Triad. Free with museum admission, $6.

Super Sitter Workshop
Saturday, November 21 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
The Women's Hospital of Greensboro, Classrooms 1 and 2, 801 Green Valley Road, GSO
Offered by the Women's Hospital and Greensboro Junior Woman's Club, this babysitting workshop is for boys and girls ages 10-14. Representatives from the police department, fire department and Emergency Medical services share babysitting safety tips. Pre-registration required. Admission: $10.

I'm tickled to find out about the cloth diaper sale! I am getting ready to make a diaper cake for my sister's shower on Saturday, and was frantically looking for diapers! As icing on the cake, it's just a few minutes from my house! Thanks, ya'll for posting this!
