February Give-Away: Girlfriends' Day Out

By Katie M

This month we put together a little something different for our loyal TSP readers. The idea for this give-away was emailed to us by Beverly Foster, owner of Beverly Hills on Main, a super cute, super hip shop featuring antiques, furniture, jewelry and gifts on Main Street in historic Jamestown.

Thanks to Beverly’s idea, here’s what we have in store: We are awarding one loyal Triad Smarty Pants reader – and three of her girlfriends – a mini-shopping spree in Jamestown. Beverly Hills on Main and Harry Smidgepodge, another adorable shop specializing in monograms, fine gifts and accessories, are generously offering $25 gift cards to the winner and each of her three girlfriends. So, essentially, four girls will get a $50 boost to her shopping bag, and believe me, that bag will be far from empty when you get home. To register, just scroll to the bottom of this blog and click on the survey link.

Have you ever been to Jamestown? If you haven’t, you need to go! Conveniently located just 30 minutes from downtown Winston-Salem, and minutes from both Greensboro and High Point, Jamestown should be considered a “best kept secret” of the Triad. You can tell it has a strong sense of community because every one knows everyone in all the shops you go to. It’s also home to City Lake Park, one of the largest public swimming pools in the Southeast that features a large shallow wading pool for small children, a main pool, two new exciting waterslides, as well as two playgrounds, a Merry-go-round, miniature train, excursion boat, miniature golf course, and a 340 acre lake.

But one of the town’s best secrets is the shopping and entertainment nestled along historical Main Street – all within a few blocks of each other – including Beverly Hills on Main and Harry Smidgepodge (along with other shops and restaurants mentioned at the end of this blog).

Beverly Hills on Main is located at 109 W. Main Street in a can’t-be-missed old yellow farmhouse. It features antique and consignment furniture and décor – along with accessory items like vintage and hand-made jewelry. As soon as you step in the store you become mesmerized by its charm. From artistic knick-knacks and décor to original paintings and unique yard art – it’s an eclectic collection that appeals to all types of style. Any girl would be hard pressed NOT to find something you love here. Beverly’s mantra for the store is “Restore, Re-Use, Refresh, Rebuy.” It’s the kind of shop where designers shop for those one-of-a-kind items you can’t find anywhere else. Beverly Hills on Main is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. The phone number is 336-887-7225, and the web address is www.BeverlyHillsonMain.com. Beverly Hills on Main also has a Facebook page that you can visit by clicking here.

Similarly, Harry Smidgepodge, located at 205 W. Main Street, carries a collection of unique gifts and accessories designed with girlfriend, mom, baby and bride in mind. And don’t you love the name? Owner Sherri Baker’s daughter coined the name after seeing her three-year-old daughter dressed to the nines in an elaborate dress Sherri picked out and put on her, and said, “Oh mom, that’s so Harry Smidgepodge.” From there, it quickly became the perfect name for Sherri’s monogramming store which opened last May. I also like to say her store is very “smarty” with bright, cheerful colors (think lots of pink and green), and anything and everything in the store (or any item you bring in) can be monogrammed too! Harry Smidgepodge is open Monday – Friday from 11 am to 6 pm. The phone number is 336-254-8328. Also, be sure to check out the article that The Jamestown News ran featuring Harry Smidgepodge and owner Sherri Baker.

To register to win $25 gift cards to each of these stores (plus gift cards for each of your three friends), simply click here to take our quick survey. Only Triad Smarty Pants newsletter subscribers are eligible to win (so be sure to sign up for our newsletter first if you are not a subscriber). You have one year to redeem these gift cards, but you will need to email Triad Smarty Pants at triadsmartypants@gmail.com with the names of the friends you choose to shop with (please email us at least a few days before your trip). The gift cards will then be held at each store in all of your names. The winner will be randomly picked on Friday, Feb. 11 and announced Feb. 14. Good luck, Smarties!

Oh, and while you’re on Main Street, be sure to check out and support these other fine local shops and restaurants: River Twist, Encore Consignment Boutique, The Soap Lady, Romantic Treasures, Art Nest, Jamestown Jewelers, Southern Roots (restaurant), and Fresh Manna Café & Catering.

Enjoy your shopping spree, and be sure to tell everyone that Triad Smarty Pants sent you!

We love City Lake Park! It is the best in the area in my opinion. I have not taken the time to shop around Jamestown and scope out all of these places you mentioned. I will make sure I add some extra time into my next Jamestown trip to get some shopping done.

I am so happy that you featured Jamestown today. We are a quaint little area that many people do not even know about! I have lived here for about ten years and I think it is a great place to raise a family. Beverly on Main is one of my favorite places to shop, along with our General Store. I have not had a chance to stop in Harry Smidgepodge, but now I will have an excuse to pop in.

I've lived in Greensboro for six years and no idea we had this community right next door! I love discovering shops such as these and am looking forward to making a trip over to the area. I had heard of Southern Roots before but did not know this was where it was located. I think this would be a perfect spot to take my mother & sister next time they come in town to visit. Thanks for a great post and give-a-way today TSP!

What a wonderful Giveaway! I've lived in Jamestown since I was in Elementary but never had stopped in any of the shops! This would be such a special treat...but either way I'm going to plan to visit them very soon!

I live in Jamestown and have my whole life. It's truly an amazing community and area to raise a family. City Park is amazing in the summer, my family enjoys watching the ducks swim and renting a canoe for an afternoon on the lake. I also LOVE Southern Roots on Main Street, it's a great place to have dinner or grab quick drinks with my girlfriends.
