Smarty Scoop on Weekend Events

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Smarties! Today's a great day to go ahead and pinch yourself because not only is the much anticipated Creative Containers Sale coming soon, but we also have an awesome line-up of weekend events below (thanks in large part to many of your submissions)...AND...the weather is supposed to be sunny (for the most part).
So let us first start by reminding you of the buckhead betties by Creative Containers Sale. You may have read our past few blogs on this event. It is one you will not want to miss. It will be held April 16-24, 2010 at 300 NC Highway 68. (Same location as the fall sale.) Here are the dates and times:
April 16-17th 9am-6pm

April 24th 9am-4pm

Spring Eggstravaganza
Thursday, March 18 from 3:30 – 5 pm
Reynolda Village – the field below the Silo
Sponsored by ABC of NC Child Development Center, the event will features an egg hunt for children under the age of 4, a separate egg hunt for children ages 4-8, games and activities for all ages, a magician, and photos with the Bunny. We will also be holding an Adult Egg Grab – where adults can make a $20 donation to the school and select an egg from a large basket. Every egg selected will have a prize inside, and prizes range from $10 to $100 in value. The prizes were generously donated by Reynolda Village merchants and other local area stores/businesses. All proceeds from this event go directly to our school, to help develop the individualized programs we offer for the children we serve.
The Art of Decorating Workshop Series: What the Hue?

2010 Tour of Fine Spaces
Saturday, March 20 from 10 am to 4 pm
The Junior League of Winston-Salem (JLWS) presents a new spin on an annual event. The well known Tour of Fine Kitchens will expand to become the Tour of Fine Spaces incorporating more than just kitchens, it will also include outdoor spaces, bathrooms, and more. The tour will feature select homes throughout Winston-Salem and will give design, decorating and building ideas to tour goers, while supporting the Junior League of Winston-Salem’s programming aimed at nurturing and educating individuals to build healthier families and stronger communities. Each space features a local caterer or restaurant that will offer delicious samples. Tickets are available for $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the tour and may be purchased from the Junior League of Winston-Salem Office or at various locations in Winston-Salem. "Score Your Home” Sales Weekends
March 20-21 and March 27-28 across the Triad from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. daily
A two-weekend schedule of open houses, will feature 10 new communities in Forsyth, Guilford and Alamance counties. In conjunction with area real estate agencies Coldwell Banker Triad, RE/MAX, Lewis & Clark, Allen Tate and Ed Price & Associates the organizations will host basketball conference themed open houses in the neighborhoods each weekend. For every home sold during the event, BB&T will make a donation to the Habitat affiliate where the home is located. Additional funds will be raised through a raffle awarding one lucky winner a decorative exterior lighting package for their home. Proceeds will go to the local Habitat affiliates in Alamance and Forsyth counties as well as to those in Greensboro and High Point.For more information about the “Score Your Home” sales and fundraising event, as well as a list of all 10 communities, please log on to web link above.
Greensboro Museum Discovery Day

Natural Science Center, GSO
NSC will open its doors to many of Greensboro and Guilford County's wonderful museums and education-based attractions. Members of the newly formed Greensboro Museum Consortium will set up booths, exhibits and displays highlighting and promoting their unique attractions. All gate receipts from that day will be set aside in a fund to help launch an all-out Museum Day scheduled for 2011. The Natural Science Center is honored and proud to support and help promote the amazing institutions that help make our region so culturally rich and diverse.
Blacksmithing Demonstration
Saturday, March 20, 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunday, March 21, 1 pm to 4 pm
High Point Museum, 1859 E. Lexington Ave. between College and McGuinn Drives, HP
Come watch our costumed blacksmith in action as he crafts various iron pieces. All ages welcome. FREE. Drop-in. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10-4:30 and Sunday, 1-4:30.
