Smarty Scoop on Weekend Events

Happy Wednesday, Smarty readers! Not only are there just four days until Mother’s Day, but there’s also just three days left to register for our Mother of All Mother’s Day Give-Aways. Come Monday, if you’re not done celebrating Mother’s Day, then share this with your hubby: Christopher’s Restaurant, located at 712 Brookstown Ave in Winston-Salem, has "Dinner with Daddy" every Monday night on its patio so moms can have a break. For each paying adult, a kid eats for free from the kid’s menu. Of course moms can come too if they want!

ABC of NC Child Development Center is offering an exciting and FREE program for single mothers who have children with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder, at risk of a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder or who display characteristics of an autism spectrum disorder. “Help Me At Home” is funded through a grant provided by the Women's Fund of Winston-Salem and will provide Saturday classes which will include respite care and lunch for the mothers enrolled and their children (children with autism and siblings). GYC Carnival
Tuesday-Friday 4-11 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m.-11 p.m.and Sunday noon-11 p.m.
Greensboro Coliseum, 1921 W. Lee St., GSO
The largest youth-run event in N.C., presented by Greensboro Youth Council, the GYC Carnival is in its 47th year. This year's event will feature classic carnival rides and attractions as well as Kiddie Land, a new kid's area for 8 and under featuring face painting and removable tattoos, a petite nail salon, small bounce houses, toddler games and arts and crafts for only 50c-$1. Kids Morning will be held on May 9 with a Spongebob Squarepants Beach Party on the GYC stage where kids can get free leis, participate in kid’s karaoke, play games and win prizes, and participate in a coloring contest. Local kids band Big Bang Boom will also take the stage on May 10 at 1 p.m and the annual Battle of the Bands will take place May 9 from 1-7 p.m. Adults, $4; ages 6-17, $2; ages 5 and under, free. The Ninth Annual Celtic Festival & Highland Games
Friday, May 8 from 7-9 p.m. The festival continues on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Historic Bethabara Park, 2147 Bethabara Road, W-S.
Festivities begin with the Ceilidh, a traditional celebration of Celtic music and food, with athletic competitions, live music on the main stage and dancing; along with vendors selling Celtic food and crafts. Steeple Hill Farm Spring Fun-For-All

"Barn Babies, Buds & Blooms, Butterflies & Burros." Come enjoy a relaxing, fun day at beautiful Steeple Hill Farm, a Triad working farm. KidCrafters Club: Dolls

"There's a Monster in My Closet."

Blacksmithing Demonstration

Celebrate Mother’s Day this year with complimentary tickets to all mothers who visit the museum on Mother’s Day. The tickets are for mothers only, and are valid only on Mother’s Day. For the rest of the family, ticket prices on Sunday are $16 for adults and $7 for children ages 6-16.

Happy Mother's Day to y'all too! Thank you for all the hard work you put into TSP. This was a great list of weekend events. I found a few events that might inspire us to do something more than play in our driveway this weekend!! Now if y'all can just plan some Smarty Weather for us, that would be great!:)
